Bringing in 2012: January

Since Alayna is not in preschool, like some of her friends are, I thought it would be fun to sign her up for dance classes at the local rec center. It's something she looks forward to every week, a chance to meet other kids, and start developing hobbies and talents. Plus it's something to do during the winter months. She LOVES her Tiny Tots dance class. When we got there on the first day, turns out that a girl from our old BYU married ward teaches the class, and she does a great job! A couple weeks into the class, she asked me if I would be interested in being her assistant. To make a long story short, I help her with the girls during the class (which is great because I would be there for Alayna anyway!), and I get paid by the hour, PLUS get Alayna's classes half price, AND get a family rec center pass for $7 a month! Such a blessing. P.S. I don't love the black tights, but this was the 1st or 2nd class and I guess I had gotten rid of her white tights because I couldn't find them!

Also in January, my brother (and fam) invited us to go with them to the annual Car Expo. I'll have to admit, it was more interesting than I thought it might be. As you can see, Alayna enjoyed crawling in the different models, and Jeff and Keith enjoyed drooling over some of them. We actually also ended up meeting up with my in-laws there, so that was fun, too!

Yeah, I know my baby is beautiful =)
This display playground was a life saver, after wandering around for about an hour, the little girls were ready to do something different.

January was a pretty quiet month....other things that happened were:
-My mother-in-law spearheaded another big donation to Primary Children's Hospital, which she has done every year since Alayna was born. There were TONS of fleece blankets (I want to say 60 ish?), beanies, and matchbox cars.
-We spent New Years at the cabin, but no snowmobiling this year, there was hardly any snow! We ate, we played, we chilled. It was good.
-My 2nd annual No-Junk January was a success. I did not consume sugar, or anything fried (french fries, chips) for January. I felt great and it really wasn't that hard. I took December off of exercising and got back into it in January to train for a 10k in March and a 1/2 marathon in June!

Becca at 4 months

Becca turned 4 months old on January 26th! Some exciting things have happened lately:
-First laugh January 9th at 3.5 months old...I was on the phone with a friend, holding Becca, while Alayna was jumping on the bed and would periodically plop down on her bum. After a few times of doing that, Becca burst out into a laugh watching her. It was the cutest thing ever!
-First rolled over (back to belly) January 24th, almost 4 months old. Just over a week later, she rolled the other way (belly to back).

Her 4 month stats
Length: 25" 75th%
Weight: 13 lb 6.5oz 43rd%
Head: 42.5 cm 84th%

(by comparison, at the same age, Alayna was 23.5" long, weighed 11lb 13oz, and head was 75th%)

Not to brag or anything, but she is one cute baby. I wanted to note something that happened a few weeks ago, one of the first times I brought her to Relief Society with me. I had her out on my lap most of the meeting. After the meeting was over, this cute older lady said "You could search the world high and low and you won't find a baby any more beautiful than that one." As a mom, that comment was one of the nicest things I could ever hear! She has her moments, but for the most part she is a happy, friendly, easy going baby. I can't believe how fast time as gone and how lucky we are to have her!
